There’s drama brewing on the 16th floor of Extell Development’s 995 Fifth Avenue, the former Stanhope Hotel and one of the buildings featured in the new HGTV series “Selling NY,” which kicks off March 18. At least, there will be in front of the cameras, The Real Deal has learned: the show is planning to highlight Extell’s decision to bring in Gumley Haft Kleier to help Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group sell the full-floor apartment in at least one episode this season.

Earlier this year, Gumley Haft Kleier’s Michele Kleier and her real estate agent daughters, Samantha Kleier Forbes and Sabrina Kleier Morgenstern, landed the co-exclusive for the 8,360-square-foot unit — Fifth Avenue’s largest and now the only one remaining in the 17-story, 26-unit, gut-renovated building. It is listed for $28.5 million with Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group and will be the site of at least part of the new realty reality show’s season finale, which was filmed last night with a full house of brokers and the press (click here for a slideshow from the event).

Raizy Haas, senior vice president at Extell, told The Real Deal that she’ll appear in two scenes over the course of the series, though she filmed them in one session, wearing two different outfits. In her first appearance, Haas said she’ll be sitting in her office when Kleier arrives to make her pitch for the co-exclusive at 995 Fifth Avenue.

Corcoran Sunshine had been the exclusive sales agent for the entire building until January, at which point it was 90 percent sold and Extell decided to bring in Kleier to help market the last two units. The other, another 8,360-square-foot unit on the 15th floor that was listed at $23.5 million, went into contract Feb. 9, according to Streeteasy.com. Beth Fisher, a senior managing director at Corcoran Sunshine and head
of sales at the building, said today in a statement that the firm is
“extremely pleased” to be working with the Kleiers on the listing

The sprawling cond-op boasts views of Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The Kleiers star in the show alongside Core’s Shaun Osher and several other brokers from each firm.

[UPDATE, 5:15 p.m.] An HGTV publicist writes in with more details about the upcoming season of “Selling NY.” In the premier, viewers can expect a whole lot of schmoozing by Core Group broker John Gomes, who takes a client to Fashion Week and plans a cocktail party at a new listing in order to attract bids. Meanwhile, the Kleier women schedule an open house and photo shoot in a hurry after one wealthy New York City couple gets divorced. In the following episode, HGTV takes us inside the former home of fashion photographer Annie Liebovitz amid one author’s hurried attempt at finding “the perfect $2 million apartment before leaving the country in two days.”
