“The Hunt” columnist sheds light on her home

Joyce Cohen, the voice behind “The Hunt,” the New York Times’ column chronicling different New York City dwellers’ searches for their perfect home, saw the lens turned on her own habitat this week, when the Observer paid a visit to her Upper West Side abode. Cohen, who has lived in her studio for 15 years, said that she paid 15 percent of the year’s rent to her broker because she didn’t know “that broker fees were negotiable.” Still, the arrangement works for Cohen, though she finds fault with a few things in her home, including the “too high” ceilings.
