Hoboken home sells for near-record price

A 4,000-square-foot townhouse at 1028 Willow Avenue in Hoboken has sold for $2.295 million, the second-highest price ever paid for a single-family home in the New Jersey city. Recently featured on NBC’s “OpenHouse NYC,” the renovated townhouse has four bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms and a large two-car garage. Other features include an elegant master bedroom suite with a marble-encased bathroom and a garden with a paved patio area, a Caldera hot tub and barbecue area.

The most expensive single-family townhouse ever sold in Hoboken, at 921 Washington Street, went for $2.55 million in April 2006, according to Eugene Cordano, whose firm, Halstead Property, handled the Willow Avenue sale. The only other local property on the market in a comparable price range is a three-unit, five-bedroom brownstone at 910 Hudson Street, which is listed for $2.495 million, according to StreetEasy.com. The property, marketed by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, features copper sinks and fixtures, a restored wood burning fireplace, as well as a private yard with a patio.
