Two workers rescued on UWS scaffolding

Two window washers who became stuck in scaffolding on the Upper West Side this morning were rescued by firefighters, who pulled them safely to the building’s roof, NY1 reported. Jesus Ayala and Robert Kaufmann were stuck in the uneven scaffolding outside 125 West End Avenue By 65th Street for over an hour, until firefighters dropped down ropes to help them. “I could tell that they were a little nervous, being off-level like that at such a height,” said Fire Captain Kevin Harrison of Ladder 35. Harrison said his team decided to use ropes since the windows were too high for ladders. The incident is under investigation. [NY1]
