A
77th floor penthouse at the Time Warner Center hit the market today
with an asking price of $35.5 million, more than double the price it
sold for in 2006.

The four-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bath unit, in the condominium and
hotel at 80 Columbus Circle, is the highest floor penthouse available
in New York City for sale at this time, according to listing agent
Paula Del Nunzio of Brown Harris Stevens, who is marketing the property
together with BHS’ Shirley Mueller.

“It has extremely tall ceilings… and that’s extraordinarily important,” Del Nunzio told The Real Deal. “Some properties have tripled [in price] in the last few years and that’s just what happens.”

The seller, which purchased the apartment for $17.26 million in 2006,
is listed in city records as Red Cherry Worldwide, represented by
attorney G. Warren Whitaker of Day Pitney, who did not immediately
return a call for comment.

The penthouse, #PH77B, is also the priciest unit to hit the market this
week in Manhattan, according to Streeteasy.com. The 4,825-square-foot
unit features floor-to-ceiling 10-foot windows, boasting views across
the city, from Central Park to the Empire State Building. Other
amenities include a wet bar, a marble-floored kitchen and a library.
Residents also have access to the Mandarin Oriental hotel services in
the building, including a pool.

Last week, basketball star Lebron James
was reportedly checking out a 63rd-floor three-bedroom apartment in the

building, with an asking price of $14.95 million.
