A construction worker was arrested today in connection with the four-alarm fire that engulfed the roof of a five-story condo at 240 Houston Street late yesterday afternoon, DNAinfo reported. Victor Hidalgo of Flushing, Queens, was arrested for using an illegal propane torch at the building, an FDNY spokesperson said. Meanwhile, East Village residents and businesses are trying to get their lives back on track. Tenants of the condo building were allowed to temporarily return to their apartments today to retrieve clothes, valuables and pets. No residents were harmed in the fire, while eight firefighters sustained minor injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. [DNAinfo]
