UES townhouse sells for half its 2007 value

The Former Park Avenue townhouse of abstract painter Judith Rothschild sold yesterday for $8.75 million, almost half the $15 million price got in a 2007 transaction. Nearly a year ago, the 25-foot-wide house, at 1110 Park Avenue between 89th and 90th streets, hit the market as a rental, for $18,000 a month, as The Real Deal reported. After failing to find a tenant, it went into foreclosure. The new owner later put it on the market with an asking price of $9.45 million, close to what it sold for yesterday, in what Curbed reported was “an all-cash transaction given the tight timeline on the documents.” Nicole Salmasi — who made headlines in April for owning a diamond necklace worth $700,000 — signed the deed. With a traditional carriage house on the outside, the interior of home resembles a contemporary art gallery, with white walls, remote-controlled window shades and a massive, triangular skylight equipped with an oversized industrial ceiling fan.
