Department of City Planning Commissioner Amanda Burden announced today a public meeting on the development and preservation of the city’s more than 500 miles of shoreline to be held Oct. 12. The public hearing, which will be conducted as part of a larger planning effort for the city’s shoreline, known as “Vision 2020: the New York City Comprehensive Waterfront Plan,” is intended to involve the public in “the Bloomberg administration’s mission of revitalizing New York City’s waterfront and waterways,” Burden said. Findings from the hearing, which will be held at the Rosenthal Pavilion at NYU, will be incorporated into City Planning Commission’s final report on the city’s total waterfront real estate, to be released by the end of the year.
