Former Bronx Power House near Yankee Stadium reopens for public use

An abandoned Bronx building along the Harlem River has reopened for retail, commercial and public use, after receiving a broad renovation that garnered it LEED gold certification, according to engineering and architecture firm Stantec, which managed the project. The Power House, located near Yankee Stadium at Mill Pond Park, includes offices for the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation and a community center. No word yet on which retail or commercial tenants will take up residence at the building, the square footage of which was not immediately clear. Although Stantec did not disclose the renovation cost, it did indicate that the project was completed using almost 40 percent recycled or locally made building materials. TRD
