Park Slope’s Grand Prospect Hall plans adjacent hotel

Park Slope’s famed Grand Prospect Hall is planning a new 11-story hotel on the site of its adjacent parking lot, according to the Brooklyn Paper. The so-called Hotel Grand Prospect, to be designed by Doban Architecture, would include 150 rooms and a 400-spot parking garage on Prospect Avenue, between Fifth and Sixth avenues. However, the plans would require city approval since the current zoning for the spot only allows for buildings of up to six stories. Grand Prospect owner Michael Halkias hasn’t submitted an application yet, nor has he revealed the cost of the project or whether he has financing lined up, but a preliminary public presentation is scheduled for Thursday evening. The hotel would be the latest addition to a budding Park Slope hotel market, which includes the Best Western Prospect Park Hotel and Hotel Le Bleu, and La Quinta, which will soon open its doors on Third Avenue and 12th Street.
