Foreclosure cases slow to clear in Florida

From the South Florida website: New state figures show that the number of Florida foreclosure cases introduced and cleared in the state’s court system fell in the last quarter of 2010. There were 40,211 foreclosure cases disposed of in Florida courts in the last quarter, almost half of the 71,514 that were disposed of in the third quarter, according to a report released by state court administrators. In Broward County, the number of such cases fell by 62 percent, down to 3,784. “I don’t think it is anything surprising,” said Palm Beach County Chief Circuit Judge Peter Blanc. “I think we were all under the impression in the last few months there was a decrease in both the number of filings and completions.”
