Connecticut mulls bedbug disclosure bill

Connecticut lawmakers are pushing a bill that would require hotel, apartment and condominium owners to report any recent bedbug infestations to prospective tenants or buyers before handing over the keys — a move that would also help the state keep tabs on its bedbug issue, according to the Connecticut Post. The state legislature’s public health committee was slated to hold a public hearing today on the proposal, which would force property owners to provide written notice if bedbugs have been found within the last year. Single-family homeowners are excluded from the bill. The state’s Department of Public Health, which would create the bedbug disclosure forms, would also be required to track bedbugs under the new legislation. [Connecticut Post]
