Twitter hunts for Manhattan office space

Twitter is on the hunt for Manhattan office space, the latest in a string of new media companies with plans to move into the city. According to Real Estate Weekly, the San Francisco-based micro-blogging service has tapped a Jones Lang LaSalle team headed by Clayton Klein to help it search for between 10,000 and 15,000 square feet of space for a New York headquarters. Twitter has said in the past that it intends to expand to New York and Los Angeles, and last year, the company was said to have opened a small, temporary office in the city. As The Real Deal reported in the March issue, there’s something of a tech boom going on in Manhattan commercial leasing, with companies like Facebook, LinkedIn, Foursquare and Tumblr all inking recent deals for space. Most are taking space in the four- and five-figure square footage range, less than the six figures many Internet start-ups were taking during the dot-com boom 10 years ago. [REW]
