Amato Opera reopening faces hurdles, following graffiti attack

March 29, 2011 01:33PM

The Amato Opera house on the corner of Bowery and East 2nd Street may be even further away from a revival, after being defaced by graffiti, according to DNAinfo. Enrico Ciotti, who owns V Bar, a popular East Village watering hole, announced plans last July to reopen the historic venue as a dinner theater. But Ciotti has not secured a lease at the opera house, claiming that he’s had difficulty getting the project going. The 4,000-square-foot space is currently on the market with an asking rent of $22,500 a month. [DNAinfo]
