Washington Heights developer has Gorman Park proposals

Quadriad Realty Partners, the developer behind a hotly-debated plan to build skyscrapers in Washington Heights, submitted two possible draft proposals to Community Board 12’s Parks and Cultural Affairs Committee last week, for Gorman Park at West 190th Street and Broadway.

One of the proposals has Quadrian building two towers within existing zoning regulations and allowing the green space to remain. The alternative is a complete renovation of the park, which is in a state of disrepair and underutilized according to board member Zead Ramadan, in exchange for taller buildings than land laws for Washington Heights currently permit.

Preliminary sketches for the renovation of the park propose extending the parkland to into the area below the towers and reducing its steep 100-foot incline.

The developer’s previous proposal was met with criticism from neighbors and the buildings were ultimately capped at 37 stories instead of 42. [DNAinfo]
