Soho House from “Sex and the City” episode for sale

A six-story story building at 33 Ninth Avenue, that was featured
prominently in an episode of “Sex in the City,” has hit the market,
Crain’s reported. The building is owned by 2935 Equities. Sources said that Jones Lang LaSalle’s Capital Markets
Group is marketing the property, which includes the Soho House private
club.

Even though a woman answering the phone at 2935 Equities told
Crain’s the building was not for sale, marketing materials have been
circulating that highlight the building’s location and note
“in-place below market rents with both mid-term and long-term
expirations provide stability and upside.” The scene in the TV episode
took place in a member’s only roof-top pool of the building.

Other tenants in the 86,000-square-foot building include the
restaurant Spice Market and Swiss furniture maker Vitra. The
restaurant’s lease expires in 2017. Vitra’s expires in 2016. Soho
House’s lease extends through 2021.

Experts said that the building, in the heart of the Meatpacking
District, would be particularly
attractive to a retailer or hotel operator. While the property was
last sold in 2001 for $8.1 million, a similar building at 15
Little West 12th Street sold for $70 million earlier this year, in a
sale managed by Jones Lang LaSalle. [Crain’s]
