From the October issue: Landlord Alan Ziess, president of Alan Ziess Realty Limited, sat down with The Real Deal last month to talk about the perks and perils of being a New York City landlord. Zies owns about 144 apartments in seven buildings in New York, all along the East Side of Manhattan. The most challenging part of owning a building in New York City, he said, is dealing with city regulations. “There are all these building requirements that [don't exist] in other parts of the country,” he said. “I speak to other owners [outside the city], and when I tell them some of the stories that we encounter in New York they just laugh.” Click here to read the interview with Ziess.
