Ryan McGinness sells Meatpacking apartment

Artist and Corcoran broker wife moved to Tribeca in the fall

Art world darling Ryan McGinness has sold his one-bedroom condominium in the Meatpacking District for $856,000, according to city records filed today. McGinness, whose Pop Art works have been collected by Charles Saatchi and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, bought the unit at 350 West 14th Street for $814,000 in 2006, public records show. He and wife Trish Goodwin, a senior associate at the Corcoran Group, had been renting it out after they had a baby in September and moved to a larger apartment in Tribeca, she told The Real Deal.

The Meatpacking District condo is in the Village Pointe, a 1988 building with 49 units, most of them studios and one-bedrooms. Goodwin listed the apartment in January for $949,000, then cut the price to $899,000 in March, according to Streeteasy.com.

McGinness “Was Using 14th Street as a primary residence and then needed to move to get more space,” Goodwin said.

The residence “just had amazing light and views,” she added, noting that it was kitty-corner to the low-rise Apple store, allowing for views of the High Line and the city.

The couple had been renting out the unit for $4,000 per month, according to Streeteasy, and the current tenant’s lease is not up until mid-November.

McGinness and Goodwin purchased a 1,830-square-foot loft in a four-unit Tribeca co-op in October, paying $2.04 million, records show. The open-plan home boasts a master suite and another sleeping area or home office described as “a small oasis tucked in the middle of it all” in the listing, with Deborah Lupard, a Warburg Realty agent.

McGinness was not immediately available for comment.
