In view of the strength of the luxury market, one couple is trying to more than double its money on an apartment at 15 Central Park West.
Arthur and Evelyne Estey, who bought a four-bedroom, 5.5-bath apartment in the building for $16.9 million in 2007, have put the unit on the market for $36 million, according to data from Streeteasy.com. The listing agent is Kyle Blackmon of Brown Harris Stevens, who also lives at 15 Central Park West, and who brokered the famed $88 million deal last year for Sanford Weill’s apartment in the same building.
The unit, which is one of the largest non-penthouse residences in the building, totals 4,584 square feet and is on the seventh floor of the Zeckendorf-developed tower. It has three bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms, according to the listing.
The Esteys, both former employees of Lehman Brothers, have moved on since the firm’s collapse. Arthur Estey set up his maiden hedge fund in 2009. Meanwhile, Evelyne Estey recently took a position as chief financial officer and chief operating officer of Lycée Français de New York, a French-language school on East 75th Street. Before that, she did a two-year stint at Barclays Capital, where she was chief operating officer of corporate finance, according to her LinkedIn profile.
According to public records, the couple has changed the apartment’s ownership entity twice in the last few months. The pair first transferred the ownership to an LLC named IIMMXXII in April and in the same day changed it again to RHYOLYTE LLC. It was not immediately clear why those transfers had been made. The couple could not be reached for comment.
Designed by Robert A.M. Stern, 15 Central Park West is one of the most coveted condominiums in the city. Other residents have included the baseball player Alex Rodriguez, the musician Sting and the actor Denzel Washington.
Blackmon declined to comment on the listing.
