84 Third Avenue and Karl Fischer

The under-construction Karl Fischer-designed rental building at 84 Third Avenue at East 12th Street will rise 12 stories instead of nine, EV Grieve reported. The update comes from Department of Buildings papers, which show that the additional stories were approved on Nov. 28.

With the additional space, total square footage for the property will grow by more than 22,000. The extra floors will also deliver 20 additional apartments. Curbed said the property will now have 114 units inside 94,300 square feet of total building space.

The building will also have 10,000 square feet of retail and 590 square feet of community space.

As The Real Deal previously reported, the development company of the property, YYY Third Avenue, signed a 99-year ground lease, which requires annual payments of roughly $1 million. [EV Grieve]Zachary Kussin

So many talented architects in this city and people use this guy. It just doesn’t make any sense. That’s why the new parts of the city look more and more monotonous.
