The owners of a historic Upper East Side townhouse known as the “Mayflower House” have swapped brokers once again, this time trading Douglas Elliman powerbroker Dolly Lenz for Carrie Chiang and Richard Phan of the Corcoran Group, StreetEasy shows.
This is the third time the five-story, five-bedroom, five-bathroom townhouse on 120 East 71st Street between Park and Lexington avenues has traded brokers since it first hit the market over a year ago. It was originally listed in November 2011 for $18.9 million by Jed Garfield and Matthew Pravda of Leslie J. Garfield, as TRD previously reported.
Lenz then listed the property for $17.25 million in May 2012. She later increased the price of the property to $18 million in January.
The 6,600-square-foot townhouse was taken off the market in February only to be relisted today with Corcoran for just $16.9 million.
The home was originally built in 1879 by architect John Payne and earned its moniker because it housed the General Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of New York, a lineage group, according to the most recent listing.
The house underwent a dramatic three-year gut renovation beginning in 2009 after it was approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission, when it got a new elevator, limestone façade and stairwell, various listings said.
The townhouse is currently owned by an LLC identified as Savyon Gimel, which has a Boca Raton, Fla., address, according to city records. Savyon Gimel purchased the home in 2009 for $5.7 million. It was listed originally in July 2008 for $8.45 million before that listing price was eventually decreased to $6.95 million with Pravda of Leslie J. Garfield.
Neither Lenz nor Chiang immediately responded to requests for comment.
