Footwear mogul Steve Madden has listed his Upper East Side single-family townhouse for $8.995 million, the New York Observer reported. Located at 175 East 73rd Street, the home measures 6,040 square feet and stands 20 feet wide.

The townhouse was not always for single-family use. Madden and his wife, Wendy Ballew, gradually purchased all the co-op units at the property until this past December, when they snatched the final $1.9 million unit. The two paid $3.6 million for a unit in 2006 and $2.2 million for another one in 2009.

“We just wanted the place,” Madden previously told the Observer. “We overpaid.”

This townhouse was also Madden’s first stop out of a Florida federal prison, where he served 41 months for stock manipulation.

The six-bedroom home boasts a garden and terraces on the front and back of the house.
