Artist Lorna Simpson has listed her townhouse at 206 Vanderbilt Avenue in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, for $3.13 million — almost $2 million more than what she purchased it for in 2007, StreetEasy shows.

A Brooklyn-born photographer, Simpson has had exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Brooklyn Museum, according to her website. Simpson’s work incorporates photographs and texts, documenting individuals “engaged in intimate and enigmatic” ways, and focusing on gender and identity issues, the website said. Her husband, James Casebere, is also an artist and photographer.

The two-family townhouse has been renovated to an “incredible standard,” according to the listing, with Merele Williams-Adkins of the Corcoran Group. The six-bedroom property includes two wood-burning fireplaces, a roof deck and an over 2,000-square-foot English basement.

Simpson and Casebere purchased the townhouse in June 2007 for $1.65 million, city records show. The couple attempted numerous times to rent out one of the home’s units but was unsuccessful each time, StreetEasy shows.
