Eyeing record, Brooklyn home asks $12M

An elegant Federal-style town home in Brooklyn Heights is poised to smash Brooklyn’s sales record by a million dollars – that is, if it can find a buyer. Originally built in 1826, the home will re-enter the market asking $12 million, a price that will compete with the current $11 million Brooklyn sales record. That record was set last year by another Brooklyn Heights property at 212 Columbia Heights – a distinction it shares with another address in Gravesend.

The property, located at 104 Willow Street, is being sold by Roberta Fisher and David Chirls, with the help of Rhea Cohen of Brown Harris Stevens. The couple originally acquired the landmarked property back in 2007 and thoroughly renovated the interiors.

“Our idea was to take a period home and, while respecting the integrity of the original details, change the interior aesthetic and bring it up to a level of comfort and beauty and convenience where it met the needs of a contemporary lifestyle,” Fisher told the Times.

The property features five full bathrooms, a black marble powder room, seven working fireplaces made of imported Belgian marble, white oak herringbone floors, and a two-bedroom accessory apartment on the basement level. [NYT] – Christopher Cameron
