Tenants of Columbus Square will be noshing before long on gourmet burgers at their ritzy Upper West Side rental tower. The upscale burger joint Bareburger is taking 1,875 square feet of the tower’s base, The Real Deal has learned exclusively.
Bareburger signed the 15-year lease last month, giving the 710-unit Columbus Square its first sit-down restaurant. Kelly Gedinsky and Lori Shabtai of Winick Realty represented the landlord; the brokerage’s Joseph Isa Brian Tregerman represented Bareburger. Neither party disclosed the terms of the deal.
The burger outlet at the 710-unit Columbus Square, at Columbus Avenue and 100th Street, should be open by the winter. Bareburger opened its first spot only four years ago in Astoria, Queens, and announced plans in July to bring its grass-fed, humanely-raised free range beef to the nation.
“The Upper West Side is also very health-oriented, which is a big component of Bareburger’s all-natural brand,” Gedinsky told TRD.
Gedinsky and Shabtai are in active negotiations for nearly all remaining retail spaces at the development, according to a representative for Winick.
Colorado-based multi-family landlord UDR partnered with MetLife to purchase the five-tower apartment complex in 2012 for $630 million, from original developers Laurence Gluck and the Chetrit Group.
