For the second-straight week, the Upper East Side was the most in-demand Manhattan neighborhood with renters. Rounding out the top five: the Upper West Side, Chelsea, Gramercy and the West Village, according to Zumper, an apartment listings website.
Renters were busy asking brokers about one- and two-bedroom apartments. One-bedroom squeaked ahead with 35 percent of the inquiries and a median rent query of $2,300 a month. Two-bedroom had 34 percent and $2,700. Studios had 21 percent and $1,495.
“We continue to see a slight drop in demand for studios, with most inquiries going to units with at least one bedroom,” Zumper COO Taylor Glass-Moore told The Real Deal.
Demand for three-bedrooms almost doubled and the median price of what those renters were looking for increased to $5,123 from $4,300 the week before, Glass-Moore said. – Mark Maurer
