Ismael Leyva to design Magnum’s Verizon Building conversion

Ismael Leyva Architects has been tapped to design Ben Shaoul’s condominium conversion project at 140 West Street in Lower Manhattan, the firm announced yesterday.

Shaoul’s Magnum Real Estate Group bought the top 22 floors of the 1.8 million-square-foot tower, also known as the Verizon Building, in September, and intends to build about 475,000 square feet of luxury residences.

“This historic building’s luxury residences will help to further the revitalization and transformation of Downtown NYC and provide additional opportunity for luxury living in Lower Manhattan,” Ismael Leyva, president of the firm, said in a statement.

Leyva has previously worked on several Manhattan conversion projects, Including 15 Broad Street at Exchange Place and River Lofts in Tribeca. – Hiten Samtani
