At least four injured in Washington Heights building blaze

A four-alarm fire ripped through a Washington Heights apartment building Monday morning, spreading from the first to the second floor.

The blaze lit up at around 10:30 a.m. in a 99 cent shop on the first floor of 1274 St. Nicholas Avenue, near West 174th Street, CBS New York reported. The building is owned by Rigs Management Company, according to PropertyShark.

Around 140 firefighters responded and spent at least an hour battling the flames, an FDNY spokesperson told DNAinfo. Four individuals — two civilians and two firefighters — suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene, the spokesperson told DNAinfo, while CBS cited five injured.
