More than 3,330 housing units are currently under construction in Downtown Brooklyn, and almost 12,000 more units — 2,900 of them affordable — are in the pipeline, according to a recent report by the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership.

Projects include the Stahl Organization’s 388 Bridge Street, a 53-story, 378-unit hybrid tower that just released prices for its 144 condos. Right across the street, AvalonBay’s 826-apartment project is slated to open in 2015.

From 2006 to 2012, 6,500 new residential units were built in Downtown Brooklyn, the partnership’s previous report, seen by DNAinfo, noted.

“We’ve known it all along, but in 2013, the rest of the world started to catch on to what a dynamic neighborhood Downtown Brooklyn has become,” Tucker Reed, the partnership’s president, wrote in the most recent report, released January 15.

The area also gained 30 shops and restaurants and became home to 11 new technology and creative companies, according to the report. [DNAinfo]  – Hiten Samtani
