New York City emerged relatively unscathed from Winter Storm Janus, but the same can’t be said for the Apple Store’s Midtown cube.

The flagship store in the GM Building at 767 Fifth Avenue suffered a number of cracks after 11 inches of snow fell Tuesday afternoon and into the morning on Wednesday. Staff roped off the area Wednesday morning while waiting for one glass panel to be repaired.

One Apple employee told DNAinfo that the panel split after being struck by a snowblower, causing as much as $450,000 in damage, 9to5mac reported.

The store slimmed down the cube back in 2011, cutting the number of glass panels from 90 to 15 as part of a $6.7 million overhaul of the store.

One of the city’s most high-profile commercial properties, 767 Fifth Avenue is owned by a partnership between Boston Properties and the families of Chinese magnate Zhang Xin and Brazilian banking titan Moise Safra. The office building became the country’s most valuable following the $1.4 billion sale of a 40 percent stake in June of last year. [DNAinfo] and [9to5mac]Julie Strickland
