WEEKENDEDITION More NYC natives are calling it quits and heading to the suburbs, according to Alison Bernstein, founder of Suburban Jungle Realty Group, an advisory firm that helps families move out of the city.

Last year, reports found that job growth, rising confidence, low mortgage rates and buyers’ urgency were all driving up home prices in the suburbs of New York City, particularly in Southwest Connecticut and Northern New Jersey.

Bernstein says that she has seen her business grow by 200 percent in the past 12 months, adding up to 1,200 active clients and a few hundred deals a year at her firm alone. Suburban Jungle has offices both in New York and Connecticut, according to the New York Post.

Bernstein told the Post that “people tend to spend more time researching a pair of sneakers or a vacuum cleaner than they do a home purchase” – even though her average buyer spends about $1.2 million. [NYP] Christopher Cameron
