Rentals in demand: Upper East Side, Upper West Side dominate

TRD's weekly look at the most searched-for apartments

The Upper East Side and Upper West Side were by far the most in-demand Manhattan neighborhoods for would-be renters last week, according to Zumper, an apartment listings website.

Rounding out the top five were Hell’s Kitchen, Soho, and East Village, the latter of which was the most popular the week before. Studio apartments had 45 percent of the leads – up from 38 percent the week before – and a monthly median rent inquiry of $1,650, Zumper data show.

Two-bedrooms trailed with 30 percent and $2,650; then, one-bedrooms with 21 percent and $2,025; and three-bedrooms with 4 percent and $4,700, Zumper data show.

Methodology: Zumper determined the rankings by using a representative sample of emails and phone calls from renters interested in its Manhattan listings available for the week ending April 20. — Mark Maurer
