May 06, 2014 01:25PM

Rentals-in-demandDemand for studios and one-bedrooms comprised 83 percent of the total leads for Manhattan rental apartments last week, according to Zumper, an apartment listings website.

Two-bedroom apartments, which held 11 percent of the leads, saw a drop-off in the level of the median inquiry to $2,500. Three-bedrooms had a mere 6 percent of the leads. The priciest inquiry was for a three-bedroom apartment in Chelsea for $6,595 per month. The cheapest was a studio apartment in Central Harlem for $1,100, Zumper data show.

Central Harlem was the fifth-most in-demand neighborhood in Manhattan for prospective renters. Interest in the neighborhood was up 15 percent from two weeks prior. The top four neighborhoods, in order, were the Upper East Side, Midtown East, Chelsea and Upper West Side. West Village was No. 1 the week before.

Methodology: Zumper determined the rankings by using a representative sample of emails and phone calls from renters interested in its Manhattan listings available for the week ending May 4. — Mark Maurer
