Berlin-based tech company SoundCloud has opened a Manhattan outpost and is brewing ambitious expansion plans in the Big Apple.

The company, dubbed the “YouTube of audio,” has inked a lease for the entire fourth floor at 101 Fifth Avenue, between East 17th and 18th streets, the New York Daily News reported. In total, the spread is 7,080 square feet, making the New York outpost SoundCloud’s largest office in the U.S.

The office will house 20 employees, a number that will double by the end of 2014 and continue to double each year for the next several years, Jeff Toig, SoundCloud’s chief business officer, told the Daily News.

“We are making a major investment in New York,” Toig told the paper. “New York will be the hub for SoundCloud in the U.S.”

The New York office move comes hot on the heels of SoundCloud’s fundraising round last year that netted over $60 million. [NYDN]Julie Strickland
