Short-term space rental startup Breather raises $6M in fundraising round

CEO of Montreal-based app plans to expand from 11 to 100 Manhattan spaces

Breather, a startup that offers private spaces to New Yorkers on an hourly basis, raised $6 million in a recent round of Series A fundraising.

The Montreal-based firm operates 11 spaces in Manhattan, which are reserved for meetings, work or relaxation. CEO Julien Smith told Crain’s he plans to expand the mobile app to 100 locations in the borough. Landlords have told him that leasing space through the app has been more lucrative than the typical route.
