A Staten Island site that has been sitting vacant for more than 40 years could be brought back to life. The Landmarks Preservation Commission approved a plan last week to turn the New York City Farm Colony, a 45-acre campus that used to be a farm, into a 350-unit senior housing development with a retail component.

NFC Associates is developing the site together with the New York City Economic Development Corporation, according to Curbed. Vengoechea + Boyland Architecture is designing the project. New designs include a new version of the clubhouse building, according to the website. The pillars to the entrance of the Potter’s Field will stay intact. Landmarks commissioners support the plan and lauded the new presentation.
