The Scribner mansion at East 67th Street between Madison and Park avenues sold for $22.5 million, property records filed with the city show.

It’s the first time in 50 years that the Upper East Side limestone townhouse at 39 East 67th Street is trading hands.

Oliver Bivins II is listed as the seller of the 9,444-square-foot mansion. The building is currently split up into four full-floor apartments. It’s unclear at this time who the buyer is, but the purchaser has the option of turning the building into a single-family home. The ground and lower-ground-floor duplex unit currently houses a doctor’s office that leads to a garden. A glass-enclosed conservatory sits on top of the structure. Bivins inherited the property from his mother Lorna Bivins, who died in 2011.

The mansion, originally built in 1877, was transformed in 1904 for publisher Arthur Scribner and his wife Helen. In 1951, the property was sold and divided into apartments.

Stribling’s James Hall, Anne Hargraves Hall and Matteo Mechelli had the listing.
