Private equity fund giant Leon Black and his wife Debra have closed on their new Upper East Side townhouse for $50.25 million – a quarter of a million more than initially reported.

The Italian Renaissance-style limestone mansion was built in 1909 and was occupied by the now-defunct art gallery Knoedler & Company for the last four decades, according to the New York Times.

The 30-room mansion features two elevators, a loggia at street level and nearly a dozen fireplaces.

Last year, British developer Christian Candy paid $35 million for the home, located at 19 East 70th Street, before having second thoughts and returning to London. [NYT] Christopher Cameron
