UPDATED, 2:50 p.m., Jan 29: Some bad news for Harold and Kumar: they won’t find a White Castle in East Williamsburg. Adam America Real Estate plans to put up a residential building at the location that was once home to an outlet of the hamburger chain.

New renderings of the project at 781 Metropolitan Avenue show an eight-story brick-and-metal facade that will house 81 rental units, according to New York YIMBY. Twenty percent of the apartments will be set aside for affordable housing.

The property, right above the Graham Avenue L stop and located among the neighborhood’s industrial-looking buildings, will also include a 10,000-square-foot retail space, according to YIMBY. Isaac & Stern Architects is designing the building.

An entity listed as 781 Metro Investors bought the site in 2013 for $6.7 million. The White Castle that used to occupy the lot was demolished earlier this year. The developer is also building a $65 million, 100-unit project at 120 Union Avenue, as The Real Deal reported.   [NY YIMBY] — Claire Moses

Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated Adam America purchased the site in 2013 for $6.7 million. The correct owner is 781 Metro Investors.
