Step into Lauren Bacall’s Dakota pad: PHOTOS

The late Hollywood icon’s former home is on the market for $26M

When Hollywood legend Lauren Bacall died in August, she left behind a spectacular home at the Dakota, filled with art collected over her 53 years in the building.

Bacall moved into the Central Park-facing apartment on the Upper West Side in 1961, and paid between $28,000 and $48,000 for the three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom space.

As The Real Deal first reported, the pad is up for sale asking $26 million, but the listing photos showed a relatively Spartan abode, since all of her belongings had been packed up to be auctioned at Bonham’s on March 31 and April 1, according to Curbed.

Now, the 375-page catalog for that auction, spotted by Curbed, has revealed photos of how the apartment looked as inhabited by Bacall, and the difference, is astonishing. Click through the slideshow to see more and check out Curbed for the rest of the images. [Curbed] — Tess Hofmann
