UPDATED 3:15 p.m., May 20: Bushwick as the city’s hottest new tourist destination? It could happen.

Riverside Developers, the developer behind the William Vale Hotel at 55 Wythe Avenue, are looking to build a 140-key hotel at 27 Stewart Avenue in Bushwick, according to a permit application filed with the city Wednesday.

Plans call for a new, nine-story hotel at the former location of a single-story, 4,500-square-foot garage that will span more than 94,000 square feet. A community facility will take up roughly 14,500 square feet, while the hotel will be about 80,000 square feet.

Some of the guest rooms will come with balconies and terraces.

The cellar of the building will include a bar and a lounge. Doctor’s offices are planned for the second floor.

Private Brooklyn-based owner James Ruggiero bought the property in 2005. It is unclear if Riverside Developers owns a stake in the building.

Neither Ruggiero nor Riverside Developers could immediately be reached Wednesday morning.
