Manhattan Community Board 5 recently approved a plan for a methadone clinic to relocate to 500 Eighth Avenue between 35th and 36th streets from 253 Third Avenue between 20th and 21st streets, DNAinfo reported. This will be the third substance-abuse clinic within the two-block radius of the new location, according to DNAinfo.

Local businesses told DNAinfo that the increased number of drug rehab clinics in the neighborhood is cause for concern, especially because drug dealing and drinking in the area, which they say is by patients of the clinics. [more]
