J-Vanka hits the set of “Gossip Girl” with Matthew Settle (“Rufus Humphrey”) and Kelly Rutherford (“Lily Bass”)

Real estate power couple Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump made a cameo on the CW’s “Gossip Girl” last night, when the shows’ stars were said to convene at a New York Observer party at the Boom Boom Room. (Kushner, an executive at his father’s Kushner Companies, owns the Observer). Some of the main characters are intended to be New York real estate moguls, with a portfolio including the Empire Hotel. In fact, it’s not the first time Trump has been mentioned on the show — in the show’s third season, supposed real estate scion Chuck Bass noted that, “sleeping with the enemy is hot. Why do you think I have the whole Ivanka thing?” In a later interview with People Magazine, Trump confessed to being a fan of the show. “I have a ‘thing’ for Chuck Bass myself,” she said. Stay tuned for a video clip of the J-Vanka cameo when it becomes available, but for now, check out a snapshot of the real life couple on the set, above.

  • Taxes blocking Stuy Town transfer

    February 11, 2010 12:30PM

While Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village owners Tishman Speyer and BlackRock Realty said they’d transfer control of the residential complex to creditors two weeks ago, that promise hasn’t come to fruition, due in part to $90 million in unpaid state and city taxes, according to Bloomberg News. Rafael Cestero, commissioner of New York City’s agency on Housing Preservation and Development, said that either Tishman and BlackRock or special servicer CWCapital has to pay the taxes — but, so far, neither is jumping at the chance. State law mandates that the owner of the distressed property has to submit unpaid taxes upon transfer to a special servicer, otherwise the servicer is stuck with the bill. “The reality is [Tishman and BlackRock] can’t just turn back the keys.” Cestero said. “CW doesn’t want to pay the [back taxes] so they’re going to have to negotiate this.”

  • OMFG! The Real Deal took part in the new Gossip Girl tour, taking in the Manhattan real estate sites that are the haunts of the privileged Upper East Side private school kids and their families on CW’s teen soap opera “Gossip Girl.” The tour, sponsored by On Location Tours, operators of the “Sex and the City” tour, started at the New York Palace Hotel at 455 Madison Avenue, home to the Bass and Van der Woodson families. Other stops included the Museum of the City of New York at 1220 Fifth Avenue, used as the Constance Billard and St. Jude’s schools, and the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, at 1000 Fifth Avenue, where the girls sit and gossip. The Real Deal jumped off the bus when it pulled up at Henri Bendel, at 712 Fifth Avenue, a favorite shopping destination of Blair and Serena, when the fans ran into the store for some real-life shopping.
