  • Daphne Guinness and the interior of the Stanhope spread

    Beer heiress and fashion muse Daphne Guinness has finally found a buyer for her four-bedroom apartment at the former Stanhope hotel, just two months after she settled a lawsuit with her neighbors at the building, The Real Deal has learned.

    The deal for the 4,118-square-foot spread closed earlier this month for $11.3 million, listing broker Daniel Neiditch of River2River Realty said today. That represents a loss for Guinness, who bought the apartment for $11.73 million in 2008. While the identity of the buyer was not immediately clear, Neiditch said the person was not well-known.     Beer heiress Daphne Guinness may want to consider re-listing her Stanhope Hotel apartment to afford a judgment just issued against her. The New York Post reported that a Manhattan judge ruled this week that Guinness must pay her downstairs neighbors for damages caused by her overflowing bathtub.

    Pardus Capital President Karim Samii claimed Guinness flooded their apartment three different times because she left her bath running. A hearing will be set to determine the exact amount she owes. The judge rejected her neighbors’ plea for $1 million in damages for “emotional distress.” [more]

    A New York family has purchased the final sponsor unit at Extell Development’s 995 Fifth Avenue cond-op, after a five-year stretch where three brokerages attempted to sell the 8,360-square-foot apartment. The full-floor, seven-bedroom unit was last listed with Nikki Field of Sotheby’s International Realty for $30 million. The apartment was first listed for $35.5 million, when Extell was in the process converting the 26-unit former Stanhope Hotel into a cond-op. [more]
