Heym, Halstead Property’s chief economist and author of the firm’s
market reports, said the Manhattan apartment market’s recovery
continued in the second quarter of 2010, in the Halstead ProperTV video above, with 81 percent more transactions than a year ago. As The Real Deal reported at the beginning of the month, several second-quarter market reports show that the number of home sales surged in the second quarter, while prices remained flat or increased slightly.

Diane Ramirez, president of Halstead Property, said now is the time to buy, in a Halstead ProperTV segment. “It truly is the perfect storm right now.” Ramirez said her firm expanded into the Fairfield, Conn. market because “there’s a perfect synergy between New York City and Fairfield, Conn.,” in a 20-question wide-ranging interview. She talked about growing up in Queens and traveling on the No. 7 subway line into Manhattan in the first car since she was 12 years old, and riding the subway today between six and 10 times a day. “I truly wear out my unlimited MetroCard. It is the best buy in town,” she said.
