Billionaire Ira Rennert pays over $480,000 per year — or $40,000 per month — in property taxes on his Sagaponack compound at 281 Daniels Lane. According to data from Block Shopper, that makes the mining and minerals mogul the top property taxpayer on the East End, Curbed noted today. Others racking up massive tax bills to rival Rennert’s include the estate of Bruce Wasserstein, whose 350 Further Lane home in East Hampton was charged more than $200,000 in property taxes in 2008, and designer Calvin Klein, who was billed $159,630.70 that year for his East Hampton mansion. Meanwhile, the 38 Matthews Road estate in Wainscott that belongs to pharmaceuticals magnate Stewart Rahr garnered a $149,77.52 2008 tax bill and Jerry Seinfeld was charged $116,671.20 in taxes for his East Hampton home at 330 Further Lane. The Mets’ new Citi Field is already breaking down, the New York Post
reported. Several of the luxury suites have water damage, and other
areas of the stadium have seen mold, falling concrete and signs,
flooding of the outfield seats and faulty electrical wiring. Actor
Jerry Seinfeld’s luxury suite and three others have developed mold as a
result of a water leak. These suites cost $250,000 to $500,000 per year
to rent. Repairmen tore down the suites’ walls in early August to look
for the source of the leak. Dave Howard, the team’s executive vice
president of business operations, said the problems were to be expected
in a 1.2 million-square-foot building. [more] -
Robert Weinstein, who runs Weinstein Company
with his brother, Harvey Weinstein, has put his 6,500-square-foot
duplex at the Beresford on the market for about $34 million, according to the Observer. Weinstein
bought the home, at 211 Central Park West between 81st and 82nd
streets, for $20 million in September 2004. The $34 million price tag
is more than any unit has ever sold for in the building. Investor Bill
Ackman spent $26 million on a duplex one floor above Weinstein’s unit,
and Jerry Seinfeld bought a duplex in the building for $4.35 million 10
years ago. Brown Harris Stevens’ Ileen Schoenfeld, who listed the home
five years ago when Weinstein bought it, is reportedly representing the
unit. [more]
