    The Hudson River Park Trust is soliciting proposals for a 200-seat waterside restaurant on Pier 26, the Wall Street Journal reported, the biggest full-service restaurant in the waterfront park that stretches from West 59th Street to Manhattan’s southern tip. The restaurant would also accommodate additional patrons on a rooftop terrace. [more]

    On the Lower East Side, a new restaurant called Pizza Junkie is opening
    in the former Morale Foods space at 11 Stanton Street. Expanding to
    Manhattan, Williamsburg coffee shop Atlas is opening up a place on Clinton Street near Delancey Street. In the Financial District, a café is slated to open in the former Soda Shop space at 125 Chambers Street. In Soho, accessory shop So Good has opened at 496 Broadway near Howard Street. In the East Village, the owners of Artichoke Pizza are slated to open Led Zeppole tonight, an Italian dessert shop at 328 East 14th Street between First and Second avenues.  Over in the West Village, a new cafe/newsstand
    will occupy 1,500 square feet of ground-floor space at 225 Varick
    Street between Carmine and Downing streets. Heading to the West
    Village, Lower East Side’s Mexican spot Mole is now open in the old Mi
    Cocina space at 57 Jane Street, while a new restaurant called Olio has
    opened at 3 Greenwich Avenue between Sixth Avenue and Christopher

    In the Financial District, Bar Seven Five
    will open Jan. 18. at the Andaz Wall Street hotel at 75 Wall Street,
    the same day as the hotel. Coffee shop RBC NYC has opened at 71 Worth
    Street near Church Street. On the Lower East Side, Grand Spa and Salon
    has relocated to 403 Grand Street. In the West Village, a former
    partner at La Goulue Francois Latapie may take over the 30 year-old Cafe Bruxelles at 118 Greenwich Avenue near Jane Street. Duck’s Eatery will open in the new ping-pong club SPiN at 48 East 23rd Street in Gramercy. In Midtown, British fashion designer John Richmond will open a store at
    3-7 West 56th Street — in the Crown Building, which has a Fifth Avenue
    address — and British footwear company Crockett & Jones will as
    well, according to a press release. Both stores are anticipated to open
    in spring 2010. Diplomat Liquors will open at 933 Second Avenue between
    49th and 50th streets in Midtown East, according to a different press

    In Alphabet City, an Italian restaurant called Beltrami Foods is set to open at 4-16 Avenue B at the corner of 2nd Street. A restaurant called J & S Food Hall will open inside the Nolitan, a new yet-to-be opened hotel on Kenmare and Elizabeth streets in Nolita. In Greenwich Village, a 74-seat café called MaximoPino Café is open at 504 Sixth Avenue at 13th Street. Brooklyn-based cupcake shop Aunt Butchies will open its fourth Manhattan location at the corner of 27th Street and Seventh Avenue in Chelsea. In Harlem, chef and Harlem resident Marcus Samuelsson is rumored to open a new restaurant in an unspecified location. In Brooklyn, the owners of the Van Leeuwen’s ice cream truck are opening a permanent storefront in Greenpoint next door to the Manhattan Inn at 632 Manhattan Avenue. Comments

    On the Lower East Side, a new tiki bar called Painkiller is slated to open in early March at 49 Essex Street in the former East Side Company Bar space. In Soho, an apothecary shop called MiN New York
    will open at 117 Crosby Street between Prince and East Houston streets.
    In the East Village, popular Italian eatery Max Restaurant will open a
    third location in the space at 39 Second Avenue at the corner of 2nd
    Street. In Midtown, the owners of a Hunts Point, Queens-based restaurant called Herb International Soup Factory have set up a food cart
    on 53rd Street and Park Avenue. The Roberts Restaurant has opened on
    the ninth floor of the Museum of Art and Design in Columbus Circle. On the Upper West Side, popular bar P.D. O’Hurley’s has opened a second location on 72nd Street between Broadway and West End Avenue. Hong Kong yoga chain Pure Yoga has opened a branch at 77th Street and Amsterdam.

    In Soho, a women’s clothing store called JNBY
    is coming to 75 Greene Street, according to a press release. A “rustic
    trattoria” is slated to open in the space once occupied by a bar called
    the Falls on 218 Lafayette Street. A restaurant with sidewalk seating called Hung Ry America will be opening in a former boutique space at 401 East 13th Street near First Avenue in the East Village. In Greenwich Village, a popular Thai restaurant called Rhong Tiam has been shuttered by the Department of Health at 541 Laguardia Place between Bleecker and West 3rd streets. In the West Village, an international newsstand and café called Hudson
    Square Mart will open at 225 Varick Street between Carmine and Downing
    streets, according to a press release. A Maryland-style seafood
    restaurant called Choptank is slated to open Monday in the old Bar Q space at 308 Bleecker Street near Grove Street. Comments

    In the East Village, a yet-unnamed clothing boutique is coming to East 11th Street near First Avenue. In Greenwich Village, a Subway sandwich shop, Bravo Pizza, and Chipotle are all opening on East 14th Street between Irving Place and Fourth Avenue. Over in Chelsea, Franks Deli is shuttering on Ninth Avenue and 20th Street. In Midtown, an upscale café  is coming to 900 Eighth Avenue at the
    corner of 54th Street, according to a press release. An Italian coffee
    spot called Macchiato Espresso Bar
    will be opening a second location on 52nd Street between Fifth and
    Sixth avenues near Rockefeller Center. Kimberly Hotel’s rooftop bar, Upstairs, will open this spring at 145 East 50th Street. On the Upper West Side, a children’s retail shop called Giggle and a
    Crumbs Bake Shop are coming to the ground floor of condominium, the
    Harrison at 350 Amsterdam Avenue between West 76th and 77th streets,
    according to a press release.

    Wafffin Tea Room at 161 Allen Street

    On the Lower East Side, Taiwanese shop BaoHaus has opened at 137 Rivington Street between Norfolk and Suffolk streets. In Soho, Realm Boutique has set up shop at 98 Greene Street between
    Spring and Prince streets, according to a press release. In Nolita, a
    second location of Italian spot Ballato’s may open on Mott Street just below Houston Street. This Little Piggy Had Roast Beef is slated to open in the former Birdies space at 149 First Avenue near 9th Street in the East Village. After threats of being shut down, the Pink Tea Cup
    will remain open at 42 Grove Street between Bleecker and Bedford
    streets in the West Village.  Chinatown Brasserie chef Joe Ng will open
    a dumpling and dim-sum spot called RedFarm at 529 Hudson Street near Charles Street. A new tea parlor called Bosie
    is soft opening later this month at 10 Morton Street near Bleecker
    Street. And organic, grass-fed burger restaurant Elevation will open
    its first Manhattan location in May at 103 West 14th Street, according

  • In Little Italy, Torrisi Italian Specialties has opened at 250 Mulberry Street near Prince Street.  Great Jones Café
    is slated to reopen tonight at 54 Great Jones Street in the East
    Village after being temporarily closed due to a kitchen fire in
    mid-November. In Harlem, an art gallery called Alex Adam Gallery has opened at 78 West 120th Street in the Mount Morris Park Historic District. In Long Island City, Queens, there have been a slew of openings. A new
    Italian bakery and café is coming to the ground-floor retail space of
    the View at 4630 Center Boulevard. A hair salon
    is rumored to be coming to 4705 Center Boulevard. An antique shop may
    open in the ground floor space at 51st Avenue between Vernon Blvd and
    5th Street while a Mexican restaurant
    may be coming to Queens West development at 4720 Center Boulevard. Comments

    In Tribeca, Indian restaurant Tamarind Tribeca is slated to open at 99 Hudson Street at Franklin Street. On the Lower East Side, Michael Huynh’s new burger joint, Mikey’s Burger, is expected to open tonight at 134 Ludlow Street. In the Koreatown, Japanese spot HaruHana is coming to 28 West 32nd Street between Fifth Avenue and Broadway. On the Upper East Side, after shuttering its permanent location at 802 Madison Avenue and 68th Street, clothing retailer Issey Miyake will open a pop-up shop a few doors down at 807 Madison Avenue. In Brooklyn, Poppa’s Place will open in the former Red Bamboo space at 271 Adelphi Street at DeKalb Avenue in Fort Greene.  Also in  that neighborhood, EN Restaurant will open soon in the former Tommy’s French Dry Cleaners space at the corner of Lafayette Avenue and Cumberland Street.
