The Kash Group is closing the chapter on the Williams Club as an events venue and lodging space for Williams College alumni. Instead, it will become an extended-stay hotel.
The firm plans to pump $11 million into the conversion at 24 East 39th Street in Midtown East. The hotel will have 33 rooms that can each be rented for at least 30 days at a time. Most of the rooms will come with full kitchens. Las Vegas-based Warner Hospitality will be managing the hotel — the company’s first in the New York area. [more]
Just weeks after Kash Group President Shlomo Bakhash purchased the 30,000-square-foot former Williams Club, he has put it back on the market. Unnamed sources told the New York Observer that would-be buyers have demonstrated interest in prices well above the $9 million that Bakhash paid last month.
City records show that Bakhash bought the 24 East 39th Street building, which housed events and lodging spaces for alumni of Williams College in June for $9.02 million. According to the Observer, he had planned to use the property as a hotel for business types. [more]
David Winoker, the real estate executive who died Friday in a skydiving accident in Ulster County, N.Y., grew his leasing agency business rapidly over the past year, picking up at least three new buildings. Winoker, 49, the president of the Midtown-based commercial real estate firm Winoker Realty, was awarded the leasing agency at the firm’s biggest building, the 382,269-square-foot 1450 Broadway, in June 2011. The husband and father of three also won the assignment for at least two other properties over the year, for a total of more than 500,000 square feet, a review of data from CoStar Group shows. [more]
