Two recent NYU graduates and a UC Santa Cruz student are camping out in
a Brooklyn backyard for a rent of $100 a month each. Since June 1, they
have been living in three one-person tents, pitched in the backyard of
a six-unit Bushwick apartment building, where six of their friends
occupy a duplex apartment. Louis Frank, Simon Levy and Emerson Brown,
all 22, are temporarily living in the tents for the summer, while they
search for jobs, according to Brokelyn, which broke the story. The
three friends pay the rent to their friends in the duplex, which
guarantees them access to the kitchen and bathroom, in addition to the
backyard. Frank said while they could easily have their parents pay for
an apartment, living in the tents gives the friends a sense of
independence. The address of the apartment building
was not specified. [more]
