Back at Art Basel in 2005, during the height of the housing bubble, famed Miami architect Luis Pons unveiled a massive floating McMansion titled “Fabulous Floating Inflatable Villa” as a critique of Miami’s over-the-top housing. But according to the Miami New Times, the piece will be back on display at this year’s Art Basel, not floating offshore in Miami but on a placed in a vacant lot in the Design District.

“It’s the same piece, but the meaning has completely changed,” Pons explained. “It’s an analogy to represent the disparity between where we were in 2005 and where we are today.” [Miami New Times]Christopher Cameron
